Buying sneakers for someone else is risky. You can get the size wrong, the colorway wrong, or end up with a fake. That's why most of this list is gear sneakerheads use every day, with one pick for when you know exactly what they want. I don't list exact prices, because they change a lot this time of year.
1. A sneaker cleaning kit
The gift every sneakerhead uses. A brush, cleaner and a microfiber cloth. I keep one by the door.
Shop: Cleaning kits
2. Cedar shoe trees
They hold the shape and absorb moisture. Not exciting, but the pairs last longer.
Shop: Cedar shoe trees
3. Crease protectors
For the pairs they actually wear. They slip in the toe box and cut down on creasing.
Shop: Crease protectors
4. Clear drop-front sneaker boxes
Stackable display boxes for grails. If their pairs live in a pile in the closet, this is the upgrade.
Shop: Drop-front boxes
5. A water and stain repellent spray
Good for suede and canvas pairs before winter. Test it on a hidden spot first.
Shop: Protector sprays
6. A sneaker book
There are good coffee-table books on sneaker history and design. A nice pick if you don't know their size.
Shop: Sneaker books
7. Spare laces
A cheap way to change up a pair they already own. Get a few colors.
Shop: Laces
8. A pair from their wishlist
The best gift, if you know their exact size and style. Buy from the brand, a big retailer or an authenticated resale platform, and keep the receipt.
Shop: Nike Dunks on eBay · Jordan 1s on eBay
9. Breathable garment bags
For the streetwear side: deadstock tees and hoodies stay fresh in breathable bags instead of plastic.
Shop: Garment bags
